Property Registration Process in Punjab
Property registration in Punjab is conducted through the Department of Revenue and the office of the Inspector General of Registration. Punjab has implemented the e-Services portal for online registration services. The process begins with the online generation of e-stamp paper through authorized banks. The sale deed is presented at the Sub-Registrar office where both buyer and seller appear for biometric verification with two witnesses. The Sub-Registrar verifies the documents, confirms encumbrance status, and completes the registration. The Punjab government has also introduced the Punjab Revenue Online System (PROS) for integrated land record management, making title verification easier.
